Perks of Being A Wallflower ♡

Pages read: 48- 72

Many things have surprised me throughout the story, I think that the biggest would probably be how many lessons are taught, and they aren't just a lesson that the author writes, and just leaves it there, he incorporates it into the story, and it comes up on more than one occasions. The author also makes the lessons fit into Charlie's life so well, that you can see that lessons somewhere in your life too. I think that even though, the book so far is kind of depressing, a lot of people can relate to it, well at least I can relate to it a lot. In this blog, I will have a picture of a quote in the book and the movie and explain what it means to me and how it surprised me. "Things change and friends leave and life doesn't stop for anybody". I really love this quote and it surprised me because I never really thought of it this way. Us, as humans, we are always about ourselves, we always put ourselves in front of others, and we always think that we have it the worst, but in reality, a lot of people are going through the same thing, something smaller, or something bigger. But in the end, we all suffer. This quote really shows me that it is our choice to either let all the bad control us, or to try to jump over it, and enjoy the time God lets us live.

This second quote is something that I have personally experienced. In one moment, where nothing really matters, you're with the people who truly care about you, and you aren't reminded of all the problems, it's just the best. I think that in Charlie's case, that one moment where he felt infinite was the only time in his life where he actually felt happy. I think that many people can relate to this. Maybe not now, maybe it will be the last breath of their lives, but I'm pretty sure that everyone will have one moment where they just feel . . . . alive.

Finally, the last thing that really surprised me, was actually one of the characters. Charlie. During the holidays, his friends, including him, had a little Secret Santa. He had to be his best friend, Patrick's Secret Santa. His first gift to him would be a mix tape that he would make with some of their favorite songs. The author wrote out all of the songs that Charlie had put on the CD. I was very interested in seeing the mix tape that Charlie created, and after I looked up the songs, I actually really liked the songs. So I have decided to let all of you guys hear the playlist. I think that Charlie was very kind, and it really surprised me to how much thought he put into the work. In the book, the author explained how Charlie spent nights thinking of Patrick's personality, and what presents would be the best.

  6. Citlalli,
Amazing blog this week, I really enjoyed it! I think the quotes you added with the gifs were so cool, and awesome, as well as the link to the playlist from the story. I think it's really interesting that you added it because you can experience kind of the same thing a character in a book is experiencing. I also have a quick question. Are the quotes you added, some of the life lessons from the story? I think it sounds very interesting, and though I'm not exactly sure how these quotes are incorporated, or the life lessons, but the way you describe them, it kind of reminds me of when the author would have little side notes in,"A Tale Dark and Grim" on his opinions and ideas. Anyways, greta job with your blog, and I look forward to reading more of your blogs, and maybe even this book (it sounds very interesting) in the future.

    1. Yes, all of the quotes are life lessons that the main character in the book learns. The second gif is a lesson that he learned because all of his life has been grief. He has been through a lot with his aunt dying so he just explains how it feels to finally be "alive"
