Looking at all of the books that I have read I think that i haven't reached and I'm not even close to completing the 40 book challenge. So far, I have read only 13 books, not counting the ones with more than 350 pages. I honestly thought I had read more. Even though I really didn't get close to finishing the challenge I feel like I now have experienced reading different genres and now, I even like different genres that I hadn't liked before. For example, fantasy, I never really liked fantasy since I had only read one book that was fantasy and now I was forced to read more, I feel like I would consider reading more fantasy books.
Based on my 6th grade year, I would say that I read more than twice as many books this year than last. Looking back, even though I haven' completed the challenge I feel like I have read a lot more this year than last. For example, last year, I would only read books that were assigned. I never really read any other books outside of school. I feel like by doing the 40 book challenge, it really made me read, whether to enjoy it or not. To me, I didn't really view the 40 book challenge as a challenge, to me I think that reading shouldn't be rushed. Like whenever we do a reading project in school and a teacher assigns certain amount of pages to read, I don't like it because I'm more of; if I like a book I will read a lot of chapters in a day, but if I don't i will only read a few pages, so when a teacher assigns certain pages or in this case how may books, I feel this need to rebel to either read more books or a lot less. I feel like my experience with the 40 book challenge was a bit different because Mrs.Larson allowed me to count fanfictions as books. Fanfictions are basically a made up story of someone with a celebrity. So it is a fictional story, and sometime the authors put in "Y/N" which means Your Name, and so when you read the story and you see that "Y/N" come up you say your name. I read a lot of those, and i think that these fanfictions were mainly the "books" that helped me read a little bit more. |
I feel like a bunch of people read twice as many books from last year. If you counting the 350 pages and up thing, how many books would you have read? How many fanfictions have you read? Great job.
