I honestly loved this book. I like all of John Green's books. He is a genius. Anyway, An Abundance of Katherines has been such an amazing story. When I first started reading it, I thought that it was very slow. John really took his time explaining events, but when I got to the end, I realized why he put so much depth in the characters. One of the characters names Hassan had what he called a, "blinding light spiritual awakening" which is basically that he looked at what he had done so far in his life and realized that he hadn't done anything. That he was a "non-doer". I loved this part in the book because John had built Hassan up as being a guy that never takes stuff seriously, he doesn't care if someone walks out of his life, so when Hassan tells his best friends (and main character, Colin) that he hasn't done anything to help others and that he regrets everything is something really cool to see.
I also really liked this book because I feel like in a way a connected to tfios in a lot of ways. For example, they both have on common moral. In both books, the characters talk about how everyone is always trying to be remembered in someway, to matter to someone. In tfios, Augustus wants to leave a mark in the world and do something special, and in aaok, Colin wants to become a genius, and make a Theory that will change the world. In the end, both of these characters learn that even if not everyone in the world knows you, you matter to others. In this book, there was a quote that summed it up, "And so we all matter - maybe less than a lot, but always more than none." To me, this quote basically says that even though the whole world doesn't know us and we aren't on TV playing the super hero, we are known and we matter to the people around us.
I also really loved this book because it had this huge plot twist towards the end of the book that completely changed the course of the story. Lets just say there is a lot of betrayal, and love, and friendship problems, and then BOOM, they all just collapse at one moment.
