Prompt - Compare and contrast this book to the rest of John Green's books.
Paper Towns is a book about a boy named Q who is in love with one of her ex best friends, Margo. When they were eight years old, they found a dead body in the park. After that they never talked again. Now it is senior year in high school and one night Margo shows up at Q's window at midnight and takes him on an adventure. They drive around the city all night, they break into Sea World and Q learns a lot about Margo, but he never really learns who she is. For the next month Margo runs away and leaves behind clues for Q to solve to try and find her.
Paper Towns is actually a very different book than the other three John Green books I have read. Honestly, i had never really pictured him writing a mystery type book. I feel like in Paper Towns it is a lot more fiction, in a way that most people can't connect to than his other books where almost every part of it someone can relate to. Another huge difference in paper Town that isn't in a lot of his books is the death of a main character. Even though the book started off with a death, it wasn't one of a main character that you fall in love deeply with.
Even though the book is very different from other works by John Green, the book also has some similarities. In Paper Towns as well as John's other books, the relationship grown in the novel is a love story. In every book I have read so far, there is love floating in the air, whether they end up in the end or not. Secondly, Paper Towns, like other John Green novels there are a lot of references back to other books (some are fake books) or even to historical events. In John's books he likes to always have a quote from a book or from a historical figure to help the character realize something in his/her life.
Wow this book sounds more than amazing! I am a fan of mystery books of course. It also didn't even cross my mind that John Green would write a book(s) like this. I will mostly likely be looking more into John Green.
