Looking back at 2013 Citlalli
Prompt: Reflect on your writing currently to your blog writing from this time last year. What are you noticing? What has progressed? What can you learn from your writing?
Looking back at the posts I have written in beginning of last year, I can see that I used to be super redundant. For example, on my first blog ever which was about my favorite book of all time, BlackBox. In that blog post, the two paragraphs had basically the same topic sentence, I said that the book "opened my eyes." Both of my paragraphs were focused on the same thing but two different parts of the story and I feel like looking at my recent blog posts, I am more efficient with knowing when I talk about a different topic. Another example of how last year, I was really repetitive would be in a blog post from October 24 and again, both of my paragraphs were trying to say the say thing. Both of the paragraphs talked about the different qualities in one of the characters, in the first paragraph, I just give generals, like "no one knows who she really is" and then in the second paragraph. I give more examples like "she is someone who is very independent" and then give an example. Last year, I and the idea of CEIEI format in my head, so I always thought of the first paragraph as an introduction, but now that I read it over again, I can see that that wasn't a good idea.
Juxtaposing last year to this year, I have seen a huge improvement in my diction and sentence structure. In my past blogs I have seen that my sentences are literally only three words and then I have about 50 sentences like that. For example on my blog post of October last year I kept on writing things like "Deal is also a very determined girl." after that I never even given evidence as to why. Looking at blogs this year, I can say that I am pretty proud because now I know a lot more variation of words and I use them, while at the same time making longer more intellectual sentences.
